THREE TIMES —— 4th TRIPLE PARADE Biennale for Contemporary Jewellery

The 4th TRIPLE PARADE Biennale for Contemporary Jewellery, under the theme of “Three Times: Past, Present and Future,” is set to open on October 19, 2018, at the HOW Art Museum· Design Center, Shanghai. Jointly with the College of Design & Innovation at Tongji University, this biennale will present a series of exhibitions, symposiums, lectures, and workshops, along with the launch of a series of limited edition prints.

This 4th Biennale will feature, for the first time ever in Asia, a selection of nearly 500 unique artworks by nearly 300 artists hailing from 34 regions and countries. They include pieces selected through an open process of public participation that took place internationally over 18 months, as well as other pieces that were created specifically for this biennale by international masters of art and design (Section I “Intimate Encounter”), pieces presented by leading international galleries (Section II “Like Attracts Like”), those created by prominent contemporary visual artists for the first time of their artistic career (Section III “Arty Game”), and those pieces independently selected by curators from a dozen regions and countries, including the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, the USA, Australia and South Korea (Section IV “Viva La Different”).

This biennale will present to the Chinese public the cutting-edge of a diverse range of global contemporary jewellery creations, and open dialogues brimming with creativity and inspiration around the subjects of contemporary art, fashion, design and craft.

Collections of contemporary and modern jewellery are now found in nearly 60 national-level cultural and art institutions across the world, including a number of globally renowned galleries and museums. Most of these pieces of jewellery were created from the early or middle 20th century to this day. In the context of an unprecedentedly diverse outburst of concepts and approaches to art practice under the influence of postmodernism and related theories, jewellery began to be used by many artists and designers as a form of expression and a creative language, and gradually was embraced as an artistic specialty by professional artists.

Today, modern and contemporary jewellery is sought after by art connoisseurs, and has become a topic of museum research in the history of modern art theory and practice. Through thousands of years of evolution, jewellery has incorporated a plethora of meanings. Its breakthroughs at different times were fuelled by transformative designers, developments in crafts and techniques, changes in materials, or the emergence of new concepts and ideologies.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can I choose a specific seat?

Unfortunately, no. Ticketing systems in China vary from venue to venue, and many are not advanced enough to offer specific seat selection. The event promoters and venues that we work with currently have no systems in place that allow third party ticketing agents to access their respective floors plans. However, whenever you buy a ticket from us, you will automatically receive the best available seats within the category you've selected. Sometime the tickets price categories' name won't be matched on the actually physical tickets. But the value will be the same you choose.

  • How do I pay for my tickets?

We have a couple of payment options available; 1. Online Payment: We now support WeChat and Alipay for online purchases. Simply scan the QR the payment page directs you to. 2. Cash/Card on Delivery: You can also pay our delivery staff directly either in cash, or with a local UnionPay card. Overseas clients can also pay via bank transfer, however, you’ll need to send us an email so we can sort out bank info and e-invoice. If you need a fapiao for your purchase, then please email us the relevant details (company title, tax number and your order number) .

  • What happens if the show gets cancelled? Will I get my money back?

Yes, SmartTickets always refunds ticket purchases if a show gets cancelled. This guarantee is one of the reasons that people choose to purchase through SmartTickets instead of less reliable sources. Please note, though, that we only refund the face value of the tickets.

  • I live outside Shanghai, how can I get my tickets?

We can deliver the tickets to you through Shunfeng Express if you are located outside Shanghai. For this option, purchase the tickets online using Alipay or WeChat. Please fill in the booking information with your address in Chinese to avoid confusion in the delivery process. Please note: We can only accept cash for deliveries within certain Shanghai area (for details, see the "cash on delivery" area map). Overseas customers may also choose the bank transfer option by emailing us. We will then send you an invoice with the bank transfer info after you’ve placed the order. However, the delivery address must be in Shanghai, for example, to a hotel. For more details, please contact us.

  • Oops! I missed the online payment QR code the first time!

If you missed your payment QR code, you can find it again on the Order Status page. Enter your booking code and email address, then click the big green "Pending Payment" button. Please note: online payment orders will automatically be canceled if the payment is not completed within 30 mins.

  • Can I pay online with a credit card?

Unfortunately, no. We've been working to implement an online payment system, which should be available soon! The nature of risk management and licensing issues with online payments made within China makes it a particularly delicate process.

  • If I lose my ticket, can I get a replacement?

Unfortunately, all physical tickets are not replaceable. The concert venues have fixed seat numbers, and to avoid conflicts caused by duplicate tickets with the same seats, ticketing agencies and promoters are not permitted to print tickets twice. If you've lost your e-ticket, you can login to the order status page and resend the e-ticket to your email.
