AWAKENING THE VIBRANT BODY WITHIN

Movement-Based Embodiment Workshop

How do we begin to awaken those parts of us which are lying dormant within us, unseen and unfelt, and bring them forward into our consciousness?

Awakening the Vibrant Body Within offers an opportunity to experience subtle shades of somatic experience in a higher intensity and resolution than we might normally allow ourselves to feel, giving us also the chance to acknowledge and include these impulses in an embodied response to the world around us.  It is an invitation to deepen the connection between our physical, mental and emotional bodies, and an opportunity to more deeply ground and then open the body in an organic way. Harmonious movement sequences supported by conscious breathing patterns are combined in a playful, organic way, allowing the body to simultaneously become both more grounded and expanded.

The workshop content is based primarily on the principles of various dance forms, but also utilizes concepts from meditation, yoga, Feldenkreis, and Gyrokinesis®.  We will not only fine-tune the physical body, but also bring a heightened awareness to the our internal energy while focusing and quieting the mind.  Participants will leave the workshop feeling more grounded and alive with a new-found lightness and sense of vitality.

Gyrokinesis®

Movement-Based Workshop for physical healing

The Gyrokinesis® Method is a holistic, highly versatile movement system, which systematically and gently works the joints and muscles through rhythmic, undulating and fluid exercises.  This stimulates the internal organs, decompresses the joints, and shapes the muscles in an organic and beneficial way.

This system was developed by the former ballet dancer Juliu Horvath. After a spinal injury, he created this unique training concept, which combines therapeutic principles with elements of yoga, dance and Tai Chi. Unlike conventional training methods Gyrokinesis utilizes free-flowing and three-dimensional movements to generate more freedom and expansion in the body.  It not only trains all muscle groups, but also improves flexibility, body tension and coordination at the same time in a playful and structured way.

The first part of the training is performed sitting on a stool to support a greater understanding of the relationship between the pelvis and spine, also allowing the gentle correction of imbalances between the two sides of the body.  The movements for each exercise are supported by corresponding breathing patterns, which create a deeper synchronization of body and mind and boost concentration.

TransLucent

Changing our future through connecting with our past.

We as individuals are not merely products of our own experiences and conditioning. We are the melting together of many visible and invisible influences, both conscious and unconscious, as well as the carriers of genetic and epigenetic material, passed on from generation to generation.

As the living, breathing ends of our ancestral lines, we have the gift of agency and the possibility to bring about change…the ability to feel what could not be felt, and to see what could not be seen.

By connecting to deeper and deeper levels of our ancestral lines and allowing this energy to breathe and move through us, we will explore the possibility of bringing frozen pockets of energy within our family system back into motion, allowing these energies to complete their course.

BIOGRAPHY

Gary Joplin

For Gary Joplin, - professional choreographer, dancer and stage director, as well as instructor for dance, yoga, and Gyrokinesis®  – the body is the central focus of his work. Drawing on a fusion of these elements, Gary leads workshops in Europe, Israel, China and the USA in body – mind awareness and development.  His work cultivates the synchronization of the physical body with the subtle and emotional bodies in a deeply embodied and creative way.

He is a faculty member of the School of Life School for Life Therapists in Amsterdam, as well as a visiting instructor for embodiment in the Linguistics Department at Freiburg University. He is also a main assistant of the teacher Thomas Hübl, and supports his work at various workshops in Europe, China and Israel, and as a member of the team for the European Timeless Wisdom Trainings at the Academy for Inner Science.

His creative work as a stage director and choreographer has been presented in theaters in the United States, England, Germany and Switzerland, where he has directed and choreographed numerous productions from youth projects to musicals for the opera over the past 12 years. Gary combines his work as a healer and a theater artist in a profound way, bringing greater awareness and self-reflection for both the performers and the viewing audience, inviting them into a ritualistic space where emotional expansion is possible.

This expresses itself in theater productions with youth as well as working with senior citizens, the hearing impaired and youth with and without physical and mental disability.  His most recent piece deals with the emotional epigenetic inheritance from our ancestors, and was the recipient of the German National Youth Dance Prize in Berlin.  He is currently creating a new dance theater piece with 17 men with cancer in Germany.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can I choose a specific seat?

Unfortunately, no. Ticketing systems in China vary from venue to venue, and many are not advanced enough to offer specific seat selection. The event promoters and venues that we work with currently have no systems in place that allow third party ticketing agents to access their respective floors plans. However, whenever you buy a ticket from us, you will automatically receive the best available seats within the category you've selected.

  • How do I pay for my tickets?

We have a couple of payment options available; 1. Online Payment: We now support WeChat and Alipay for online purchases. Simply scan the QR the payment page directs you to. 2. Cash/Card on Delivery: You can also pay our delivery staff directly either in cash, or with a local UnionPay card. Overseas clients can also pay via bank transfer, however, you’ll need to send us an email so we can sort out bank info and e-invoice. If you need a fapiao for your purchase, then please email us the relevant details (company title, tax number and your order number) .

  • What happens if the show gets cancelled? Will I get my money back?

Yes, SmartTickets always refunds ticket purchases if a show gets cancelled. This guarantee is one of the reasons that people choose to purchase through SmartTickets instead of less reliable sources. Please note, though, that we only refund the face value of the tickets.

  • I live outside Shanghai, how can I get my tickets?

We can deliver the tickets to you through Shunfeng Express if you are located outside Shanghai. For this option, purchase the tickets online using Alipay or WeChat. Please fill in the booking information with your address in Chinese to avoid confusion in the delivery process. Please note: We can only accept cash for deliveries within certain Shanghai area (for details, see the "cash on delivery" area map). Overseas customers may also choose the bank transfer option by emailing us. We will then send you an invoice with the bank transfer info after you’ve placed the order. However, the delivery address must be in Shanghai, for example, to a hotel. For more details, please contact us.

  • Oops! I missed the online payment QR code the first time!

If you missed your payment QR code, you can find it again on the Order Status page. Enter your booking code and email address, then click the big green "Pending Payment" button. Please note: online payment orders will automatically be canceled if the payment is not completed within 30 mins.

  • Can I pay online with a credit card?

Unfortunately, no. We've been working to implement an online payment system, which should be available soon! The nature of risk management and licensing issues with online payments made within China makes it a particularly delicate process.

  • If I lose my ticket, can I get a replacement?

Unfortunately, all physical tickets are not replaceable. The concert venues have fixed seat numbers, and to avoid conflicts caused by duplicate tickets with the same seats, ticketing agencies and promoters are not permitted to print tickets twice. If you've lost your e-ticket, you can login to the order status page and resend the e-ticket to your email.
