Concerto Italiano Performs ‘L’Orfeo'

The ancient Greek myth Orpheus was the favorite theme for Western opera composers, like Italian master Claudio Monteverdi. L’Orfeo was written in 1607 for a court performance during the annual Carnival at Mantua by the Italian composer. It was accompanied by a complete orchestra in the premiere, which is recognized as the starting point of modern opera. The Concerto Italiano has a unique interpretation for Monteverdi and Vivaldi’s music. Established in 1984, this orchestra has so far won three "Gramophone" awards. Starts 8pm. Tickets 80rmb to 380rmb.
