Michael Cignarale - the diva behind MEDUSA- Shanghai's Monthly dose of ecstatic, cunty, glitter, vogueing realness, weaves together DJ sets of queer house and disco. Complete with slamming 909s, silky chicago keys, raw acid lines and sometimes live vocals from the queen bitch himself. Expect to be taken to church Hunty.
Tobias Patrick is a record collector, DJ and constant in Shanghai’s dance music scene. He has spent the last two decades immersing himself in club music - and has picked up one or two tricks along the way. From Breakbeats to Acid, Techno to synth, his vibes are always changing yet woven together with great care.
Yinan organized warehouse parties while studying in Providence, United States. She’s a member of HTTP after returning to shanghai. Her music seeks an intimate dialogue with the crowd and the constant stream of attention, care, heat, and succulence for her beloved dancefloor.
She has shared stages with Bambounou, JASSS, NDRX, CEM, MCMLXXXV, and Antenes. Her footprints include Elevator, OIL, Zhaodai, Tag, Cue, Loopy, and other clubs around China. You can find her recordings in cloud storages of NTS, Clyde Radio, Baihui, SHCR, CDCR, and Far Radio.
China Social Club shows on NTS
Frau’s sets delve into the deeper offsprings of house and techno, encompassing rhythm driven electronics, deep bass groove and dance floor ambience. Frau is the co-founder of China-based music radio BAIHUI.LIVE, and one half of China Social Club.
China Social Club is a Shanghai based underground music platform that throws a variety of collaboration parties in Shanghai and throughout the region. One of their main ongoing projects is running NTS Radio in Asia. China Social Club’s Live from Shanghai series on NTS Radio is like club hopping through Shanghai’s best underground dance clubs.
As an artist and promoter, Hu Yang is one of the major figures of the Asian electronic music scene. Being the co-founder of Konekt Asia, he has brought heaps of new opportunities for the electronic music scene from China to Asia.
In 2013, Hu Yang came to prominence as a DJ/producer using NiChiFanLeMei. His preferred Dub, Detroit Techno production and DJ set brought a new look to the underground music scene in China. His music is restrained and introverted, without showing off too much of his attitude towards life. However, his DJ and Live set is diversified, sophisticated and tasteful, with his distinguished and melancholic taste of music, he has a unique talent to make the dance floor move.
Through his own take on 90s oriental ambient music, Knopha is slowly drawing attention within and outside of China. He is paving his own way through the unknown world where dance, ambient music and alien soundscape co-exist.
The surprisingly well received EP ‘Nothing Nil’ was released via Shanghai based label Eating Music.
Besides being a producer and DJ, Noah is also a party promoter with goals to connect China with the underground worldwide. He co-founded club night Beatween, which has hosted revered selectors including Orpheu The Wizard，Pender Street Steppers，Bake，Bell Towers and more. 吴卓玲 Wu Zhuoling (Live)
Wu ZhuoLing's path of independent music exploration has been a long and winding one. From musicianship as a singer-songwriter, electronic bandleader and producer, to social roles as a translator, wordsmith and athlete, her rich experience has expanded the dimensions of thought and, not surprisingly, given rise to the evolution of her own music. Emotions are the focus of her pursuit when crafting a sonic landscape. In the techno scenes she sketches live with hardware, fresh melodic fragments are spread like scattered light over a haze of deep ambience; the mood progresses with a solid, repetitive rhythm, catalyzed by soulful samples from the fields or the streets, creating a unique texture of tranquility and slight psychedelia.
Endy Chen is a maniac vinyl records digger and owns a 10,000, daily-updated vinyl collection. He founded Groove Bunny Records / Daily Vinyl / Records & Barber wave / 1asia since 2013, building up a reputation worldwide. Endy has endless passion on developing his sound via rare groove culture as a DJ. Spending much of his time digging into Asian Pop / Fusion tunes. He also published Guest Mixes at RBMA / NOISEY and have his own special columns in NTS Radio.
