What is the background color of traditional Chinese culture? Maybe everyone has their own answer in mind. However, exploring the contemporary expression of traditional culture is a topic that every cultural and art worker must face. This spring, Shanghai Cultural Square and China Oriental Performing Arts Group will select music and poetry "Jiangshan Jingxiu", dance poetry dramas "Only This Green Green" and "Dongpo", and gather the "Oriental National Yun" series of performances, bringing the aesthetics and traditional charm of the Great Song Dynasty to the space of the theater again.

A combination of Chinese and Western music and poetry, a unique cultural journey. The mountains are like songs, the green are like songs, the rivers and mountains are racing, and the exhibition is involved in dreams. A string of "music" ancient and modern, looking back at the millennium, music singing rivers and mountains. The musical poetry "Jiangshan Jingxiu" produced by China Oriental Performing Arts Group traces back thousands of years of intangible cultural heritage musical instruments, the fusion of Chinese and Western musical styles, and the flexible and changing stage effects, slowly unfolding an audio-visual picture depicting the green mountains and waters of the motherland.

The musical poetry and painting "Jiangshan Jingxiu" presents the geographical landscape and humanistic customs in the famous painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" with twelve magnificent pictures, draws on the artistic expression of ancient songs such as "High Mountains and Flowing Water", "Fishing Boat Singing Night", "Three Alleys of Plum Blossoms", "Sunset Flute Drum", "Empty Mountain Bird Language" and other ancient national musical instruments, as well as Western brass music, and adds painting, calligraphy and other expressions, injecting majestic and deep, thick and light distant charm into the grand scenery of thousands of mountains and rivers. A thousand years alone, the stars are lonely. Wander in the music and painting poems of "music in pictures, music in paintings", listen to it, watch it, and feel the distant thousand-year-old time and space and rich cultural life.

A thousand-year-old instrument, a blend of ancient and modern: reconstructing the melody of ancient music

Music poetry and painting use many ancient musical instruments with traditional Chinese cultural connotations, such as chimes, jiaoqi, zhu, gong, guqin, etc., and integrate with Western musical instruments, and invite the famous composer Meng Ke and young composer Lv Liang to create them. In the picture "Thundering Cangyue", the duet between the building, pipa, bamboo flute, guqin and trumpet, trombone and saxophone, three-dimensional timbre, rich and changing stage effects, and superb playing skills vividly interpret the wind bone of a thousand miles of victory. Played by specially invited artist Peng Liying, listening to its sound, it seems to stand on the bank of the Yishui River in 227 BC, and the sad song of the building is constantly lingering. "The wind is bleak and the water is cold, and the strong man is gone", the tragic and magnificent sound of Tsukizhi skillfully shows the lying on the back of the mountains, the majesty of the beautiful peaks, and the reckless lofty mountains and mountains immediately appear in front of you.

Another ancient musical instrument, the phoenix shoujiao, plays an ethereal sound that runs through the heavens, earth, mountains and rivers, just like the phoenix soaring across the seas. The picture "Fengxiang Jingye" is performed by specially invited artist Lu Lu, and the ethereal and clear and soft timbre expresses the phoenix flying and traveling the world. The work reconstructs the melody of ancient music with modern composition techniques, expressing nostalgia for ancient ritual music and reverence for nature. At the end of "Jiangshan Competition Show", the main melody of "Spring River Flower and Moon Night" played by the chime is ethereal and deep, and the magnificent charm outlines the prosperous chapter. These unique traditional Chinese musical instruments convey poetic humanistic and natural feelings, the magnificence and style of ancient Chinese civilization, and national confidence in the field of world music.

In visual aesthetics, music poetry and painting use technological stage technology to let the audience see the color in the ears, hear the sound in the eyes, and give shape to the sound, which is an innovation and exploration of the traditional concert form. The interplay of music and light and shadow jointly creates the artistic conception of "wild water and blue sky, peaks and mountains into the sea", leading the audience to immerse themselves in the "thousands of miles of rivers and mountains" projected on the stage.

Seeing in the ears, hearing in the eyes: an innovation and exploration

The music and poetry "Jiangshan Competition Show" gathered a first-class team. Wang Jianguo, Zhang Weiliang, Meng Ke, Zhao Cong, and Gao Yuan served as art consultants. Zhang Weiliang, a famous flute player, commented: "Chinese folk music urgently needs such a concert to promote Chinese traditional culture and national music, and there is no doubt that this concert is a contemporary expression of excellent traditional culture and has important contemporary value and connotation." The famous composer Meng Ke explained his creation as follows: "The combination of East and West, using good Western technology, thinking, and successful models to enhance our music, this is the direction I want to do." ”

The musical poetry "Jiangshan Jingxiu" is a poetic expression of China's excellent traditional culture, a masterpiece combining tradition and artistic innovation, containing graceful and luxurious manners to inherit ritual music, and making the ethereal and distant ancient songs renewed. Twelve pearls of different colors are connected with music threads, weaving the splendid mountains and rivers of the Chinese nation, expressing praise and reverence for the green mountains and waters of the motherland and the great rivers and mountains of the people.
