Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo come over from Monaco for a production of Swan Lake, as part of this year's China Shanghai International Arts Festival. The ballet company has been around for more than a century, and for this production Jean-Christophe Maillot, the director and lead choreographer, presents his personal vision of this classic piece of Western dance. Working with Jean Rouaud, the 1990 Prix Goncourt winner, they have adapted the timeless story of Siegfried and Odette so that this narrative resonates with the questions and issues of our own time. Performances take place daily from october 18-20, with curtain up at 7:15pm.
